“Scarlet”: a new pocket professional camera, from Red Digital Cinema

Jim Jannard has just announced on reduser.net that prototypes of Red’s new pocket professional camera, to be called “Scarlet”, will be shown at NAB in April ‘08:

Scarlet. Our Pocket Professional camera.We know that the name has leaked out, so we want to avoid any postings and speculation.Prototypes will be shown at NAB. It is not a competitor or replacement for the RED ONE.Jim“Scarlet” is a Trademark of RED Digital Cinema Camera Company.
There’s a whole section of reduser.net, speculating on Scarlet’s specs.
My guess: a small camera with a fixed lens shooting Apple ProRes 422 native (think AJA IO HD) at 24p, for US$2,000, plus acccessories. If the Red One is the digital 35mm camera, perhaps the Scarlet is the digital 16mm camera–for half the price of a Sony HVR-Z1U. This will really hit at market share of Sony, Canon and Panasonic.
Very, very cool. Oh yeah, and Red One (the first Red camera) reservation holders will have be able to purchase a Scarlet before the general public. Also cool (for us reservation holders…)
