That’s what this post says. Wow! I decided not to go to NAB, in order to be able to attend the full Hong Kong International Film Festival. Now I’m feeling vindicated and farsighted… It’s one thing when Avid drops out of NAB–what many of us took as a signal of hard times on giant who’s sun appears to be setting. But if Apple’s pulling out of NAB, does that mean NAB is the one who’s sun is setting (or at least a little dimmer in this recession year)? Or that Apple doesn’t have much new and cool to show, Final Cut and Blu-ray-wise? The Red tent will still be the most happening thing there, in any case–with presumed Scarlet 2k pocket camera + 4K display announcements.
Ironically, the NAB show’s new tagline is “where content comes to life”–but sure is hard for content to come come to life without without the top two non-linear editors (NLEs)!
