My friend, Percy Fung, runs one of the top digital post-production houses in Asia, Digital Magic (along with Film Magic and a few other sister companies). Digital Magic is doing a screening at Filmart, the fim and TV market that runs 17 -20 March and coincides with the opening of the Hong Kong International Film Festival. Percy and Digital Magic are doing a screening of clips of “successful box office movies” that DigitalMagic has worked on (using their impressive array of post-production tools: ArriLaser film scanners, DaVinci colour correction suites (including Revival), Autodesk Flame and Smoke, etc.), presumably to be projected on Digital Magics 2K Barco projector. I’m attending. It’s a great opportunity for indie film makers in Asia to see what can be done with digital production tools (e.g., HD cameras from Sony; and Percy has two Red One’s coming soon) and digital post-production tools (esp. color correction) and digital projection.
