There’s a new podcast by fxguide which rounds up Red camera info by two Australian industry pros, Jason Wingrove and Mike Seymour.
Listening to it now–seems pretty good. It’s like having a chat over a meal with experienced guys actually using Reds. These guys actually are shooting with Red for paying clients, with Cooke lenses, etc. They don’t necessarily have the latest “bleeding edge” info, but they do discuss “near bleeding edge” as actually used by camera operators on set and in post production studios.
The first podcast (dated 2 April) talks about audio, accessories, Build 15 and the ever-shifting best practice workflow.
Nice quote from Jason on benefits of Red:
If I can get sort of a film look and not have to suffer all the things like a mag [film magazine] change every four minutes… synch sound, stand by and mark a slate kind of sphincter-tightening process… There’s something lovely about this silent little machine that can quietly roll, and be a bit sort of covert…
