MIT Technology Review article asks if Red cameras will make still photography cameras obsolete. Well, not a 39 megapixel Hasselblad H3DII. And even a Scarlet is significantly bulkier and heavier than a Nikon D3. But it’s an interesting question I hadn’t thought much about: how much easier would it be to capture a Pulitzer Prize-winning photo in a war zone if you could just duck your helmeted head down and continue shooting 24 frames per second at 3K (i.e., 3072×2048 pixels or 6.3 megapixels)?

but there will always be things that you can do with film, but can not do with digital, just as there are aspects of digital video and photography that you cant entirely do with film. (you can, its just more complex)
in the end, film will most likely be around for a very long time, (well, relatively long in the grand scheme of things)
