Ok, so my RSS reader is Pageflakes, an online “webtop” RSS reader. I’ve come to like the the way Pageflakes has all my RSS feeds (with graphics) physically laid out in tabbed pages. Until two days ago. When Pageflakes just died. Without any notification. Gives putting your valuable data (in this case several hundred URLs [...]

Started reading Norman Hollyn’s book, The Lean Forward Moment: Creating Compelling Stories for Film, TV and the Web over Chinese New Year. This is something I’ve been looking for: a holistic view of how to put audiences into the “flow” state (i.e., they forget about time, are leaning forward in their seats). Hollyn is an [...]

Less Variety

Variety just laid off the one columnist of theirs I read (online) religiously, Anne Thompson. Anne will do fine. Variety, I’m not so sure. Seems like nose cut off to spite face. Scott Kirsner, as usual, is tracking it. He [...]

Scott Simmon’s Editblog alerted me to a new camera in Canon’s HV line of super small high-def cameras, the HV40. (Stu Maschewitz and other “dv rebels” have been touting the HV20 (and HV30) for a while.) The big feature is “native 24P” mode and a custom button for saving presets. Not sure if you can [...]
